A number of his paintings
portrayed Taylorsville, Pennsylvania, now known as Washington
Crossing. The sleepy village was along the Delaware River, in
what is now Washington Crossing State Park. The property was
purchased by the Commonwealth for creation of the park,
and several of the houses, including his, were moved farther
in from the river, where they still stand.
| Seen at left is self photograph of William Mulhern, in yard of his home, then adjacent to Washington Crossing monument, now the location of the park visitor center. Note the similarity of his hat to the painting below left, and the general clothing style seen in painting at top of this page. |
